Behind the Scenes

Hey guys! Christine here. I’m about to give you the scoop on Pinky Land, the Great In-Between, and maybe even dish a little on the legendary Twinkie-Twinkie of the North and His Honor Alexander the Pink. Check back often for facts about Pink Elephant’s home-world, the mysterious green elephants, and much more! In the meantime, if you want to know more about what Mandy, Christie, Marianne, and Peter are up to every day, check out Mandy’s new blog:

TWINKIE-TWINKIE of the NORTH
Also known as “The Great Twinkie-Twinkie of the North,” this famous twonk was one of the heaviest and most respected twonks in history. At the peak of his heaviness, known as The Ballast Era, he was roughly 3 times the mass of the sun in other words, about 5,966,760,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kilograms, although he definitely wasn’t as big as the sun! Without his belt (see Twonks), he would have weighed 1,315,445,410,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 pounds on Earth. That’s a lot. Rumor has it that he was so heavy he once caused a star to blow up.  The Poet, another famous twonk, wrote a song about this event many many years later. It went:

Twinkie-Twinkie’s little star,
How I wonder where you are.
Are you in the sky, still here?
Has Twinkie made you disappear?

It became a hit song and later came to Earth, when the Great Twinkie-Twinkie of the North visited to learn more about humans. Of course, the words have changed a little over the past 1000 years, although most twonks correctly believe that the song remains popular on Earth today.

The Great Twinkie-Twinkie of the North was not only unbelievably heavy, but was one of the most talented singers Twonkie Land has ever seen. It was said he could sing the stars to sleep in the heavens, or inspire them into new constellations. In fact, in 532BW, during the Brown Comet Scare, he single-handedly saved Twonkie Land with his incredibly powerful music. The Brown Comet, well-known among inhabitants of the Star Dunes constellation, was going to crash into Twonkie Land, and the Great Twinkie-Twinkie of the North was summoned by the twonk Council of Elders to sing it onto a different path. He was later elected to the Council in 102AW, when he was only 2,000 years old. No other twonk his age has been elected since.

Perhaps the Great Twinkie-Twinkie of the North is most famous for his friendship with the pinkelephantian hero His Honor Alexander the Pink. The two of them named the Twin Moons above Pinky Land, Thaif and Epoh, in honor of the friendship the pink elephants and the twonks have shared for millenia. Both were beloved leaders who were said, as the pinkelephantian saying goes, to be kinder than the rain is to the fields. Together, the two friends united the pink elephants and the twonks against the green elephants in The War of Planets.

Both were also forward-thinking. Indeed, it was the Great Twinkie-Twinkie of the North who first suggested travel to Earth, once the War of Planets was over. While he was discouraged by his reception (the humans feared him and he came to be known as the mythical “Big Foot”), he reported seeing many strange and wonderful things and hoped that one day twonks would be able to get along with humans. Humans still claim sightings of Big Foot today, although the Great Twinkie-Twinkie has long left Earth.

He and His Honor Alexander the Pink took a last trip together in 3,032AW, and he returned at last to Twonkie Land in 3,134AW, where he died peacefully in his home surrounded by those he loved. He was over 5,000 years old.

TWONKS
They’re so large and eat so much, it’s no wonder we notice when they’re around. There might have only been one twonk on Earth previously (see Twinkie-Twinkie of the North and The Poet) ever wondered who “Big Foot” really was? but one is enough! They are the gentlest and kindest people you will ever meet, but don’t get in the way when they’re eating! They have been known to eat bullets in mid-air if they think bullets might be tasty.

Always on the lookout for the crunchiest kind of food, they sometimes accidentally smash things in their way. When running after something to snack on, they can move faster than the human eye can see, thus making them invisible. This is known as foodspeeding. Otherwise, twonks move pret-ty slowly.

Twonks will eat almost anything, although their favorite food is the eduris rock, found in abundance on their home planet, Twonkie Land. Nothing on Earth is as hard as the eduris rock, though diamonds come close. Recently, Mandy, Christie, Peter, and Marianne have discovered that twonks also like licorice. A lot.

While they aren’t very good at math, twonks are friends to animals of all shapes and sizes. Their singing is unparalleled, and many travel millions of miles every year to hear the twonks sing. Their singing can calm the wildest beast, and is powerful enough to command rocks. Twonks often make various objects this way, by singing them into existence out of raw rock. The beautiful elephant caves in which pink elephants live today were sung by the most respected of twonk architects, and have been used for millions of years. The twonk culture revolves around the creation and preservation of beautiful song and rock formations, as well as gentleness towards all living creatures. Weight is also a very important matter the heavier a twonk is, the more respected he is.

How heavy is heavy? Well, twonks can weigh more than several million pounds, enough to cause some serious damage if they’re not careful. Fortunately, a natural mineral found on Twonkie Land, wingeris (also known as ‘the floater mineral’) can be sung into a kind of belt that most twonks wear around their waists. This lessens their weight considerably, and while they will still weigh several hundred pounds, it is less likely that they will accidentally destroy, say, a small building if they are unable to fit through the door.

Twonks and pink elephants have been the very best of friends for hundreds of centuries, although there is some mystery surrounding their first meeting. Two of the three Pinky Land moons (see Pinky Land) have been named in honor of their friendship. Twonks cannot fly without the help of pink elephants, and thus only travel to other planets when pink elephants help them use The Great In-Between. Twonks, like pink elephants, live very long lives, and adult twonks in their hundreds look much like human beings in their mid 30s. Don’t be fooled! Once a twonk looks like he is roughly 50, he is probably several thousand years old. In order to be on the twonk Council of Elders, a group of twonks that govern Twonkie Land, one must be at least 3,000 years old and at least twice the mass of the Earth’s Sun, although a few exceptions have been made (see Twinkie-Twinkie of the North).
